Horseback Riding Cucao Dunes + National Park Trekking (“El Tepual” Trail)


Chiloe National Park is located on the west coast of the Island of Chiloe. The largest area of the Park belongs to the “Piuchen Cordillera” (mountain range). Dunes, valdivian forests, larches and peatlands are protected environments. The main idea of this trip is to get to see Chiloé National Park in a different way. Leaving from the Hotel in Castro on the transfer we will cross the town of Huillinco and around Huillinco and Cucao lakesides. Once in Cucao, after a short instruction, we will ride our horses through the dunes on the pacific beach. After the horseback ride, we will visit the premises of the park where we will enjoy a small picnic and then take a walk along the Tepual trail, and contemplate the native vegetation. Finishing the trekking we will head back on the transfer to the hotel in Castro.

Kayaking in Lake Cucao + National Park Trekking (El tepual trail)


When the english naturalist Charles Darwin visited the village of Cucao in 1835, it was in a small boat (bongo), crossing Cucao lake throughout its length. Nowadays Kayaking has become one of the most pleasant outdoor activities, the main idea of this trip is to reach the mouth of the lake, where Darwin may have performed disembark, and also to experience how the inhabitants of the area used to transport before they had access to roads and bridges. On the way, you will be amazed with the panoramic of the hills, native forest and huge nalcas; this is an adventure you will not forget. After the kayak we will visit the National Park where we will enjoy a small picnic before heading to “El Tepual” trail. After this we will start our way back to the hotel in Castro.
